How to Hide your TV Wires The FAST WAY! DIY In-wall power cord and cable installation!

This should be a QUICK ONE! My 2nd, Livingroom project, is to hide my unsightly wires hanging from my TV!

Check out my 6 min installation video!

I did some research and I went for simplicity and speed of installation! I chose the Legrand-Wiremold CMK70 Flat Screen TV Cord and Cable Power Kit.

This kit came with a hole saw, and fish tape that I can reuse later on! It is much simpler to cut a round hole then to fiddle with a drywall knife and make sure you have level rectangular cuts!

I think the round box is the FASTEST way to do an in-wall installation!

I also considered the Legrand, Home Office & Theater, in Wall TV Power Kit, White, CPT306WV1. It is a bigger rectangular box with two outlets and it will fit more cables. However it will not come with the fish tape, no hole saw, its costs more, and it’s bulkier.

The round kit CMK70 I used is more compact, which is a pro and a con. You can position it out of sight much easier, but it doesn’t have a lot of space for cables. However you can easily fit 3-5 low voltage cables.

The installation itself should take you no more then 15-30 minutes!

All you will need are common tools:

  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Stud Finder
  • Tape Measure
  • Hole saw (part of the kit)
  • Fish Tape (part of the kit)

My challenge during installation was the insulation inside the wall, which made fishing the wires a little more difficult. If your TV is mounted on an exterior wall, you will also have to deal with it. However, if your wall is hollow…. super easy!

I used a drill to attach the hole saw on, which make the hole making a breeze, however you can use the handle they provided and do it by hand.

You will find a stud finder handy! Place your boxes between the studs.

Very rewarding quick project! 😁😎
